Slowdown effect in wood panel sector is not much visible on Film faced plywood and Doors segment thanks to deadline-driven work at Government projects. Another boost in demand attributed indirectly due to impact of RERA implementation. Although there is the slowdown in real estate and housing sector after implementation of RERA, the builders have to deliver homes in a set period of time, resulting in the fast completion of many housing projects.

Apart from this, the government-related projects, metro rail, public utility centres, railway, bus stands and other infrastructure projects are running on full swings and governments are willing to complete all announced project under its set timeline.

These factors are helping the demand of film faced plywood and doors even many odds after GST. The reports from Andhra Pradesh, Bangalore, UP, West Bengal and Maharashtra confirmed the decent demand of shuttering plywood and flush doors during July- August.

The film face plywood and doors suppliers are looking at a better volume due to the present flow of orders. The specialist suppliers of film face plywood to different projects say that ‘so far the demand for film face ply has been exceedingly well and the next few months to look comfortable’. The wholesale suppliers feel that the spurt in government-led projects in different states, the demand is bound to sustain and grow further.

Unperturbed by any slow down speculations, the film faced plywood manufacturers are going ahead with expansion plans or adding capacities. The release of new licenses in Haryana has given a big opportunity to manufacturers to add new presses hence almost every manufacturer is expanding its production in Yamuna Nagar.

According to the survey and findings from different sources, there are 27 new presses seems to be getting added in Haryana alone. Easter belt, South India and UP manufacturers too are in a wait and watch mode and if an opportunity becomes clear, there could be many presses for film faced shuttering plywood during FY 17-18.

Survey on ‘India’s Door Industry’ is going on, which will come as ‘SPECIAL ISSUE ON DOORS’. Make sure of your participation and presence in every format.
