Fibre Cement Board (FCB) Firming up as an Alternative to Wood Panels

In the line of alternative wood products like MDF, HDF, Particle Board, WPC, PVC Foam Boards, Glass etc Wood and Fibre Cement Board is another emerging product category that is gaining acceptance in kitchen, Partition, Cladding, Roofing, interior & exterior and designing applications in India. It is becoming popular in the market due to health consciousness and increasing cost of wood and wood products. Wood and Fibre Cement Board is an eco-friendly product which application gives a chemical free hygienic environment.

They are promoting it with eco-friendly concept. Being a cost effective product and can be used in Furniture and Kitchen making, cladding, interior applications to designing and decoration it is termed as the best solution for the modern house finishing. It also reduces the construction time. One needs to just fix it and use the desired applications. It is becoming a better choice for interior designers and architects as designing and decoration has been made easy with the Wood and Fibre Cement Board.

Available in many shades colours and adjustable with the wall papers and paints of current days its thickness range vary from 4 mm to 25 mm, in which 4mm to 6mm are used as false ceilings. In a standard size of 8’x4’ the fibre cement boards are very durable material with high strength and stability which does not break or loses its composition. Talking about the product Mr Vamsi Gaddam, Joint Managing Director, Visaka Industries Limited said, “Fibre Cement Board is now growing at fast pace, and we want this eco-friendly concept has to be promoted. It is available in different finishes like glossy finish, auto mobile and paint finish, veneer vanish, wall paper finish, laminate finish, etc. These finishes are done like sticking on wood by substituting plywood with cement fibre board. On these boards you need to just paste veneer or laminates or any other material using normal adhesives or paint or can do digital printing according to your choice.”

According to the recent survey findings by The Ply Reproter ‘Wood and Fibre Cement Bonded Board market size has touched approx Rs. 1000 crores annually led by Bison Panel, Visaka Group and Everest Group, who contribute about 60 % of this market share.
