For giving a boost for setting up plywood manufacturing in Gabon, GSEZ has signed an agreement with Gujarat (India) based resin manufacturers for setting up Formalin and Resin
manufacturing plant in SEZ. They informed to The Ply Reporter that an investor from Gujarat has finalized to establish a Formalin [100 MT per day] & Resin Plant in Gabon SEZ. Methanol will be sourced from neighboring country Equatorial Guinea. They will be producing UF, MUF and PF from this plant. New Owendo International Port [NOIP] developed by GSEZ already has a provision of methanol storage.

This Investor already has a Formalin and liquid resin plant in Gujarat and their powder resin plant is under installation. They are starting construction of their plant in Gabon SEZ in September 2018 and likely to operational by Q4 of 2019.

It is noted that all the plywood units [both, inside and outside SEZ] are dependent on import of powder resin from Asia [mainly Indonesia & India], Europe and MENA region [mainly Egypt] but after this plant getting into production, the major issue of non-availability of liquid resin for plywood manufacturing will get resolved and this will be a great push to plywood manufacturing in Gabon. Moreover, landed price of resin for plywood unit is likely to reduce by 15%.
