Fri Seminar Held in Yamunanagar on ‘Role of Agro Forestry and Wood Technology’ for Better Livelihood

Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun organized one day seminar on ‘Role of Agricultural Forestry and Wood Technology for better livelihood ‘ in Khalsa College, Yamuna Nagar on 1st February 2019. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Naresh Tiwari, President of All India Plywood Manufacturing Association. In his inaugural address Mr. Tiwari said that everyone should work towards improving the quality of Plywood and should try to increase the export of Plywood. Many Industrialists and entrepreneurs also addressed the seminar and provide their suggestions on strengthening, betterment and welfare of the Plywood industry. A large number of people associated with plywood and related industry attended the seminar and expressed their views as well.

The purpose of this seminar was to provide a forum for resolving the problems of entrepreneurs associated with wood based industries, promoting agro forestry and wood technology and making the plywood related business much beneficial. In this seminar, experts and scientists from FRI, Dehradun provided the detailed information about the efforts of their institutions towards the betterment of Agro Forestry, Wooden Industry farmers and entrepreneurs of the industry. On this occasion, Mr. Devinder Chawla, President of All India Plywood
Manufacturing Association appreciates the work done by FRI Dehradun on the Melia Dubia, which can be a good option for Plywood Face. Therefore, it should be promoted by the institute among the entrepreneurs and stack holder of industry so that they can get benefitted from Melia Dubia, Mr. Chawla added. Mr. J K Bihani, President, HPMA also addressed the meeting.

On this occasion, Dr. A. K. Pandey welcomes all the participants and guest speakers. Mr. Pandey said that the main objective of this seminar is an attempt to provide a forum for discussion and resolving the problems of farmers, forest departments, self help groups, businessmen, government and non-profit organizations,

wood industries and all related organizations and individuals in the field of Agriculture Forestry and Wood Technology so that we all can make a combined efforts to Increase the production by making agro forestry and wood technology profitable. Apart from this, the objective of the workshop is try to make the market available to the wood based products through this platform and efforts will be made to make the research done by the Forest Research Institute available to the Wood Industry and the farmers, he added.

In this seminar, all participants discussed and expressed their views in detail about the role of agriculture forestry and wood technology for improving livelihood, industry and market and the meaningful utility of their product in the present era. Mr. S. C Jolly, President, Wood Technologist Association, Yamunanagar, said that today the Plywood Industry needs to be more expanded and improved. On this occasion Dr. D.P. Khali, Dr. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Rambir Singh, the subject experts of the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun presented their lectures on Plywood Technology and Melia Dubia based Agroforestry. Dr. Yusuf, Dr. Amit Pandey, Dr. Shailendra Kumar, Dr. Devendra Kumar, Dr. Rambir Singh, Scientist Ajay Gulati and other
officers from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun and officers from Department of Forest Technology, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana were also present.
