Costlier Lumber Helping Market to Accept ‘Substitute Doors Frame’ Materials

Lumber and sawn timber that is largely used in making of doors and window frames has become costlier during last 2 years. With rise in dollar, restriction on timber supplies and tightening international laws choking the timber affordability factor in price sensitive Indian market. The scenario is offering space to other alternative materials to wood that are easily available, readymade, easy to install and cost effective.

The builders/contractors from metros are accepting such materials like UPVC, LVL, PVC/WPC and even Plywood etc because it is saving their time, maintenance issues and fixing mess due to Pre hung door process. With fluctuating price of imported wooden frames every day and prices going beyond their budget, builders and contractors have started opting for alternate options shows reports emerging from markets.

A civil contractor is happy to install Aluminum and UPVC materials as they are easy to install, precise in work, less time of installation and maintenance free if customers is ready to pay for WPC of UPVC. Plywood made LVL lumbers are also making inroads in these applications because it is very strong, durable and cheaper compared to wood. Contractors are happy with cost effective and similar mechanical properties material to opt over costlier wood now that was not the scenario a few years ago. Although this is case only in urban areas and metros. In other places wood still maintains its charm despite of higher prices though the inroads are being made.
