Mr. J K Bihani, President of HPMA

Haryana plywood manufactures ’ association has announced price raise  in plywood and plywood products. The decision to the price rise has been taken in their executive body meeting
held on February 19, 2019. The increased price come into force with immediate effect and members of the associations accepted the price rise.

Mr. J K Bihani, President of HPMA said, “The association increases the finished products price such as Poplar Plywood & Block Board by 10% and Alternate Ply (Ecu.– Pop Combi) and Eucalyptus Plywood & Door etc by 6%”. Talking with the Ply Reporter’s correspondent, Mr. Bihani says that the Poplar logs prices have been increasing every day, hence manufacturers are forced to pass on the increased input cost to market immediately.

The association took such decision due to manufacturers’ inability to observe the sharp rise in input cost, and decided to pass on it to consumers. It is evident that there is a sharp rise in price of poplar trees, depreciation of the rupee against dollar, increased cost of diesel, high labour and freight rates. Haryana is the largest producers of plywood in the country and caters about 50% market with their around 600 plywood manufacturing units. It will definitely impact the market.
