Century Ply is Setting up Veneer Unit in Gabon

After Greenply, another big plywood brand Century Ply is also going to set up face veneer manufacturing establishment in Gabon Special Economic Zone. As per report from GSEZ, the company is putting their units in 3 hectares (30,000 square meters) area with an option of future expansion for 1 more hectare. As of now they are investing only face veneer peeling unit with 3,500 cbm per month capacity but they may go for other wood processing too in future, confirms GSEZ officials.

As per report Century Plyboards has started civil construction at manufacturing site and their commercial production is expected by August 2019. Century Ply is a leading supplier of face veneer to Indian plywood industry, and with Gabon operation, they mainly target India market. Mr. Nitin Misra of GSEZ said to The Ply Reporter, “Century Plyboards has taken a decision to invest in Gabon after a due diligence over a period of almost a year. They are now starting with the construction of their plant after they are convinced that Gabon is a sustainable timber source and Logistics issues are gradually being sorted out.”

“We, at GSEZ, are quite excited about Century Plyboards deciding to invest in Gabon. This is a testimony that Gabon is the future and ideal destination for wood working industries. We are quite confident that Okoume Face Veneer will take further share in the Indian Markets given with, Indian wood panel and plywood manufacturing leaders, Greenply and Centuryply, are in Gabon”, said Mr. Nitin.
