Imported Wood Based Units Freed from License in Gujarat

As per the latest notification under the provision of Mumbai Forest Act (Gujarat Correction Act) 2018 issued by the Forest and Environment Department of Gujarat, imported wood-based industrial units will no longer require a license to operate and run their factories in the state. Entire Wooden Industry of the Gujarat welcomes this move of government. This is said the move is aimed to promoting and encouraging the wood-based industry and related traders in the state.

As per the announcement made by Gujarat government, only imported wood conversion industry are given relief from obtaining the license under this new rule. The registration proceeding of this industry is to be taken in to hand as per the new rules and this regards no any fresh and renewal fee is to be recovered.

The Wood based units which have been freed from licence includes Saw mills, veneer units, plywood units, Particle Board/MDF/Khair Ghadatri etc. The Units using imported wood will only need to register themselves with concerned authorities, which is a simple process.

Mr Navnit Gajjar, President of Kandla Timber Association said that we are happy with this new rule and the move will benefit entire imported wood-based industry including plywood, particle board, MDF etc using imported wood also.
