Greenply’s employee Soumen Saha, Branch Manager of Durgapur and Howrah region undertook a philanthropic initiative to stand next to people in need during the lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Accompanied by his son and Sudip Dhara, a Territory In-charger from his Howrah team, they visited the Carpenter’s colony in Andul, Howrah to distribute essential supplies to over 100 Carpenter families. Both the Greenply branch team members of Durgapur and Howrah contributed to this initiative as a whole. They purchase around 200 Kgs of Rice, 100 Kgs of Pulses, 200 Kgs of Potatoes, 3 Cartons of Edible oil and around 125 cotton masks for this cause.

Not only did they help the carpenter’s community through this act of kindness, but they also ended up helping a few local people who were in dire need of adequate supplies including a 92-year-old woman. The local Panchayat leader who was also present during this activity lauded the team for being the first plywood brand to undertake such an initiative and that too in the suburbs.

That’s not all - the distribution was also done maintaining social distancing as the carpenters were asked not to come to a common distribution point but instead stay in the 7-8 mandis where they were originally from and the team visited them individually to distribute the necessary items.

Greenply appreciates Soumen and his team for taking this exemplary step and reflecting the true values of the organization by serving the society.
