How did you come into PVC laminate manufacturing? What are your strengths?
We stepped into the industry of PVC Laminates as the first Indian manufacturer under the name MERAKI to sort out the problems faced by unique customers in regards to quality and service of imported PVC Laminates. We innovated the Color Core or Uni-core and 90 Degree Bendable PVC Laminate so that the harsh edges are visible to customers.
We started with a small catalogue of 36 designs. Today we have 400+ design options with exclusive features via water-proof, termite-proof, fire-retardant in this industry. We have a production capacity of around 70,000 sheets that can be increased upto 100,000 sheets per month with 80% capacity utilization.
How do you see the future of PVC laminate in India?
The future of PVC Laminate industry is very bright. In the present context, only 20% population has the awareness of PVC Laminates, Gloss Level and available designer items in PVC over Paper Laminates. As for application of PVC Laminates, there is no problem whether you apply it vertical or horizontal, but there has to be a proper way of installation.
What new products did you introduce in the last two years?
We introduced Textures in PVC Laminates and now the veneers range, which is 90 degree bendable; no one has yet offered such a product in the market. Customers are happy with our product offerings and we are getting enormous demand from market.
Why should a customer choose PVC laminates?
Today every customer wants to make his house into a luxury home, and PVC Laminate is the best suited for his need. Designs in PVC Laminate are more luxurious over paper laminates.
What are advantages and dis-advantages of small sized players in this segment?
If we talk about the manufacturers in India, there are many small players who are just creating a price war. They limit themselves up to a geographical extent, provide cheap quality products and degrade the value of PVC Laminates. But on the other hand they are creating awareness too for this product in market for a healthy competition.
