The maker of brand WIGWAM - with a motto to manufacture ‘Ply as it should be’ has registered double digit growth in FY 2020-21 despite of Pandemic, and has successfully recognised among branded plywood segments in India market, and has become approx. Rs 100 crore brand.

Savitri Woods promises to manufacture WIGWAM with all the required standards and processes which it claims. The plant establishment is undoubtedly good enough to produce the claimed USP’s. Overall vision of having a large single manufacturing facility with such developments in a place like Hoshiarpur where raw material availability does not pose any immediate scarcity makes this plant worth writing about.

Recently during a small chat with The Ply Reporter, Director Mr. Gopal Bansal shared his achievements and view on current market scenario. In this year also he is increasing the production capacity of plant by 30 to 40 percent.

How was year 2020-21 amidst all challenges due to Covid?

The year 2020-21 has had more than its fair share of tough situations. But despite lockdown and uncertainty, our company has registered double figure growth. We have also streamlined our production and significantly increased our capacity utilization.

What do we learn from this pandemic?

I think this pandemic has taught us too be grateful for what we have rather than be remorseful for what we don’t.This year helped us relearn how to nurture or rekindle relationships that “a lack of time” didn’t allow us to keep up with.

How did business behaviour notice change in this challenging time?

Our attitudes, ways of working and engaging has changed since past one year. More so than ever before we have to adapt to the present situation and make changes in our day to day business.

Do you feel any positive changes in wood panel trade?

In my opinion there are more positives than negatives from this pandemic. We are now more focused on safety & welfare of the workers, hygiene, adapting to new technologies. It also gave us time to evaluate our production to make more efficient. Same goes for the wood panel industry. I think everyone has shifted their focus which I believe is very positive sign for our trade.

How do you see this year despite strong second wave?

“Eventually All Waves Settle” I hope with massive vaccination drives we can vaccinate every single citizen of this country within 3-4 months.Hopefully after that things will become normal gradually. Fear never builds the future but hope does.

Do you plan any capacity expansion in Plywood further?

In the past one year we have worked extensively towards evaluating and streamlining our production. We have made significant changes and we have been benefited by that. In this year also we are planning to increase our daily production by 30 to 40 percent.
