The recent survey concluded among Architects/Interior designers/Carpenters/ Retailers/ Influencers on ‘usage and benefit of decorative veneers’, a surprising note appears on this segment. It is found that 85 % influencers are not aware about the actual application of decorative veneers such as, which species are suitable for which applications, which polish/coating is required for which kind of veneers? Why this veneer for drawing rooms, why this veneer for bedrooms? Why this veneer for wardrobe/shutters? Why this veneer for dining table/study table/office table, etc?
The biggest reason appeared after the survey that people are afraid of its time taking and tiring polishing process. Lack of awareness on points like ‘What are the advantages or dis-advantages of using matt or gloss finish coating for specific usages’ or ‘which coatings are suitable for which area’ is also adding to problems. Which are the companies that are offering suitable kind of coatings, and what are actual methods of applying coatings? Entire processes of buying and applying veneers are based on emotion of influencers and customers, without rational act. It is a fact that Coating/Polishing are important ingredient of decorative veneers but it is also a fact that Indian veneer producers are ignorant to recommending users about the suitable varieties and kinds of coatings.
There are no guidelines for polish personnel for applying material on veneers. If decorative veneer producing companies wish to expand natural veneer usages with growing disposal income of next generation users, they must prepare a guideline for quality and range of suitable coatings with specific veneers. They must educate retailers and influencers about appropriate coating options and its benefit for customers. If they success to control and guide the actual coatings quality, it is sure that its market will expand many times, and users feel proud of using it.
