Recon face veneer Calibrated ply is getting good acceptance through OEMs, as the companies are also passing it on to them with quality offerings that match their requirements. OEMs for this product have observed that they are very satisfied with the quality and pricing, and they are taking it as a replacement for imported birch plywood because of its look and surface finishing.

Plywood consumption has been noted to increase among OEMs, hence the increasing demand for calibrated plywood with a thickness of 16 mm. But, due to the decreasing margin in this category, the manufacturers are helping to promote recon faced ply among OEMs. Although the recon-faced plywood has been accepted for more than four to five years, the pace of offering has been slow. But now the manufacturers are turning towards it due to its considerately good margin.

The recon-faced ply is a new product being offered in the India market and has been led by Punjab-based Savitri Woods. They created it for the first time in the Indian market, and the company has widely marketed it among OEMs. The thickness of the plywood in their offering is 16 mm, which is much liked by OEMs. They received a very good response from users. As per the report, the brands have received very good orders from OEMs because it is calibrated and available at an affordable price range.

Due to the growing demand for such products among OEMs, dozens of brands have introduced this kind of plywood, including Saburi Plywood, SiamPly, Real Ply, Magnus Plywood, etc. Mr. Ravi Singhal from Siam Ply says that in this category, 16 mm plywood is much in demand and is highly requested by OEMs due to its cost effectiveness, but the condition of OEMs is that the plywood should be calibrated. And the use of recon faced veneer has become value for money for furniture makers.

Hyderabad-based OEMs say that they require 16-mm calibrated plywood of good quality. Earlier, he used to use imported material in this category, but since the last four years, Indian brands and plywood manufacturing companies have also been offering such products that are of suitable quality and fulfil the requirements. A Jaipur-based OEM says that calibration is more important than face veneer; hence, the recon face veneer is value for money if the plywood is calibrated. Technical experts suggest that if a company uses 0.4 mm plus thickness Recon Face Veneer, then this product quality would be as good as hardwood face veneer plywood.
