The price of Decorative base paper which is used in the manufacturing of laminates has witnessed a notable jump of 6-8 %. As per the market reports, décor base paper companies and suppliers are hinting at a significant increase in the prices of both printed and decor based paper.
It has also been reported that Indian Printers have also registered their intent to increase the price of decor paper by Rs 10-15 per Kg at various manufacturing units across the country. The information of price increase has been circulated nearly on every counter in the last week.
Apart from this, it is also being assumed that the surge in anti-dumping duty on some Chinese companies might have also spurred the prices of decor paper in India. In addition to this, imposition of anti-dumping duty on Titanium dioxide, a key raw material used in production of Decor Paper, increases the input cost for Indian manufacturers as it is imported largely from various countries by domestic decor paper manufacturers Therefore they are compelled to pass on the high cost into the market.
The current market sentiments also seem to be in favor of increasing the price of Decorative Laminates and Pre- Laminated Boards citing the high input cost of decor paper. The Pre-laminated Particle Boards and MDF producers along with 0.8 mm and Liner laminates segment have been feeling a pinch of this price rise, and they may pass this input cost to market, citing the market scenario.
