Sudden Jump in Formaldehyde Prices Create Panic in Wood Panel Industry

The Wood Panel Industry has been sent in tizzy after the abrupt jump of over 30%  in the prices of the Formaldehyde, which has been reported by the Indian Chemical  importers engaged in the procurement of Methanol.  As per the reports this unprecedented rise is reported to have ensued due to the sanctions imposed by the United States on the US- entities of the Indian companies that were indulged in trading of Petrochemicals from Iran. 

Formaldehyde Suppliers have reported an acute shortage of Methanol, Consequently, the prices of Methanol have been reported to take a jump of 35 % in the last two days. It is anticipated that the surge in the Methanol can touch upto Rs 40/ kg till the writing of this report. Some of India's largest importers of Methanol such as BK Sales Corporation  along with many others are facing the impact of these unilateral sanctions.   

Formaldehyde is the key raw materials in the production of the resin, used in the plywood, Laminate, MDF, Particle Boards  industry, the news of such unprecedented rise in the formaldehyde is bound to make the industry stakeholders perturbed because it will have a direct impact on their input cost. 

As per the information from various industry sources, it will not be an overstatement to state that it will take around 3-4 months before the surge in prices get down and the situation shows signs of stabilization.
