Panel Producers Diversify into Face Mask Production

The Covid-19 pandemic has badly hit the demand of entire building materials products in the country due to the lockdown. But some Panel Producing companies has taken this challenge as opportunity by entering into Face Mask manufacturing, which has become essential for all citizens to wear during this pandemic era. With face masks becoming an inseparable accessory, Anumber of plywood, Aluminum Composite Panel manufacturers, PVC Decorative sheets and edge band Tapes producers have started manufacturing of Face Masks.

ACP producers Alstrong, Viva Bond, E3, PVC Edge Band Tape producer G Décor, Trend, Meraki etc have launched its Face Mask brand to cater the present demand. As per market report, each has production capacity of 50000 to 80000 pieces per day and they have to increase the capacity further. “Suddenly mask manufacturing has come as a great opportunity for the industry, as a different product line, at this moment of crisis,” Mr. Prakash Jain, MD, Viva Composite Panels said adding, “he can produce 2 lakhs mask per day once required.”

Mr. Mayank of G Décor said, he has achieved all required certification and launched his product in market, and he has production capacity of 80000 piece per day. Estimating the market size for masks at around 10,000-12,000 crore, experts said a bulk of this market is going to be for 'fashion masks' while the remaining will comprise of medical/surgical masks.

Apart from these, leading textile and fashion brands such as Shoppers Stop, Fabindia, VIP Clothing, Zodiac, and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail brands such as Peter England, Allen Solly, Louis Phillipe and Van Heusen have all come up with creative designer masks to match with their collections.

All those industries of building material sector, who has regular contact with china based suppliers have jumped I to this line by using their sourcing contacts. The players fromACP industry arefurther gearing up and making variety of masks as people are increasingly becoming safety conscious and are seen wearing face masks as they step out from home.
