Q. How has been your experience of 2 years of journey in plywood manufacturing?

We have had a mixed bag experience in the industry in the past two years. Starting as an underdog, we have faced numerous challenges in terms of trying to procure quality inputs for our factory as the market offers numerous inputs of varied quality. As a rookie you need to get your choices right and need to build confidence in vendors to work freely with you. Vendors are vary of new comers and don’t build up trust easily in term credit terms. Slow and steady, we have been able to build up a bond of relation and reliability with our vendors and today we are a preferred customer to most of our suppliers and a trustworthy quality based producers for the market.

Q. What has bid your biggest challenge so far?

The second Challenge was to build a team of workforce including Contractors, Supervisors, Chemist & Quality Controllers in the plant who could do justice to the inputs in terms of making a quality product at an effective price which could sustain the market competitiveness and also provide a certain value addition to the customers. Today at Infiniti, we have a team of winners and achievers who do not look for personal goals but the team winning at any cost. Marketing and achieving sales has been by the biggest challenge in the past two years. When I look back at them, I can say, every customer has a different priority zone and expectations in terms of Quality, Supplies, Pricing and Credit facilities and also After Sales Support. Dealers sometimes expect too much at too little a price and living up to all that at a very competitive price has disheartened us at times but nevertheless having built up a vast market region and associated with dealers of all segments we feel poised to take on the competition. We have a great sales team who will stretch themselves to that extra mile to procure sales for the company and not only have they got the numbers on the board but have an amazing rapport with their distributors, dealers and builders. Now, the customer appreciate our quality, feels cared for and trusts us for timely supplies, not to mention the personal bond that he shares with and cherishes it more than anything.

Q. What is your observation about North India Plywood Industry prospects?

North India in the past 2 years has witnessed a sudden spike in the number of plywood units and that has really turned on the heat for competition. There are players with a single press unit who feel they operate on zero overhead and can outdo the big players and there are on the other end, massive units with 4, 6 or even 10 presses who have the economies of scale and size to take on the competition. Over all North India is virtually a battle zone today. And with Uttar Pradesh is also considering opening its plywood units with free for all permission the picture in bound to get more competitive and fierce in months to come.

But every cloud has a silver lining. With all the competition and cut throat pricing North India has developed a core competence in the production of plywood. Plywood Units in North India have adapted to the situation, they have the technique, skills and efficiency with a consistency in quality if compared to rest of India manufacturers. The North based players have the modern equipment and surely do have the firepower to give ample credit facilities to the customer. So we see a huge potential in North Indian Plywood Industry as long as they don’t eat up each other.

Q. What kind of products are you offering, and what are the specialties of your products?

We are ONE STOP SHOP when you talk in terms of variety of products available with us. We are probably the only unit which supplies you Commercial MR Ply, Commercial PF Ply, Block Board, Doors and Shuttering Ply in one truck load only. So when a dealer looks at us as a potential supplier he does consider the fact that all his requirements can be met with us a single window…. So yes we do all kinds of Commercial, Water Proof Ply of different nature as Alternate & all Hardwood also. We do value added products such as Fire Retardant Ply, Calibrated Ply, and Flexible ply also. In addition to this we do Block Boards and Flush Doors. We can even apply a laminate onto your ply and supply to you. And yes we produce the best shuttering ply in the country. Our products are very special as our products deliver what we have committed to the customer. We don’t make tall fake claims to any dealer. In terms of quality we only commit what we can deliver and what we have committed, we are dead serious about it. Product Quality is one area at Infiniti which has a Zero Tolerance Policy. We are very serious when it comes to quality of our product. Our quality is our arrogance and we take it to our heart if at all there is ever a quality issue in our product. So that to me is where we are special.

We are ready to get up and go, but just waiting for the Corona Pandemic to subside. Hopefully next year we can have this same interview in a more optimistic ambience.

Q. Seeing the present challenges, what are the next plans to keep delivering your products?

We have always had a single point agenda to our Plan that is Quality & only Quality. At the same time we are very cost sensitive. We are working very closely within our team to optimize our Cost of Production and to minimize overheads by maximization of production. We are very focused on Consumer satisfaction. Our Mechanism of working and Coordination with logistic issues is immaculate and many customers have come forward and acknowledged our style of working and process of order booking and dispatch. We will continue to follow the same Mantra and will go to the next level to make the customer feel very special…This perception along with our immaculate quality and supported by the efforts of our sales team should see us through the rough waters which the industry faces today. As it is we are increasing turnover on ‘Year On Year Basis’ so in the past 2 years we have come a long way in turbulent times. Where others have struggled to stay afloat we have cruised to new highs of production. That in itself speaks for itself and how geared up and enthusiastic we are for the future.
