Morbi, Gujarat has been growing as a hub for Decorative Laminates. With around 30 manufacturing establishments of decorative laminates, the region has spear headed with capacity growth in Gujrat state lately. Reportsindicating expansion plans are under execution by these manufacturing units adding a dozen of new hot presses, more daylights and new establishments. Confirming these reports with Machinery manufacturers, certainly there are going to be more presses by this year end. There are 12 new presses and in few units addition of more daylights are going to add to the total laminate manufacturing capacity.
The oldest and reputed laminates manufacturing unit, Rangoli Laminates are setting up a new unit with 2 new hot presses, of which one is of 10x4.25 ft targeting the export market. Mr. Kanti Patel, Director of the company confirms that he is going to add more than 2 lakhs sheets every month, which would start commercial production by end of year 2021.
The leading laminates brands from Morbi such as Rebecca Laminates, Bell laminates, Monal laminates, Suntouch laminates, Samarpan Laminates, Well Mica, Reoluxe etc have been expanding its production capacity by adding new presses and daylights. Besides, another half a dozen laminate manufacturing units are also expanding by adding new presses. 2-3 new units are also reported to enter into laminates manufacturing in Morbi.
Mr. Kanji Patel from Rebecca Laminate views that he has started commercial production in a second plant. He has been offering 3 brands in 1 mm presently, one brand in 0.8 mm and going to unveil one more brand and, hence he has had more than 1500 SKUs in his bouquet. He says to maintain such range at affordable prices, he has to add the capacity, and it has become essential for further sustainability in the market.
It is noted that Morbi based manufacturers mainly focus to Western and South based market because of their good service and supply. Due to the hub of tile manufacturing, they have advantage of good supply of materials to these markets in minimum time. Better service, illustrious working and good design innovation have been helping Morbi based HPL unit to sustain and grow further in the laminate industry, and they are going to add another 12 lakhs sheets every month in 2021.
