Recently, Shree Krishna Paper Mills & Industries Ltd (SKPMIL) has developed a paper, which is a substitute of Chinese imported paper. Stating on the new offering similar to the China imported paper, Mr Naynesh Pasari, Director, SKPMIL said, “Shree Krishna believes in innovation, development, research and supplying everything to the customer under one roof. Once you enter into an industry – learning and providing service to customers for all their needs is important. “This is how we made black shuttering too after gold rust”.

“Once again to develop this substitute of imported paper, we have not copied any mill”. The substitute which is under the brand - PLATINUM SKPM SHUTTERING PAPER, is also in-house development. There are all type of customers in the market, we respect and learn from all of them. Like no individual is same, similarly no customer is the same. Every customer has developed their process, paper being used, machine setting, brand and marketing system as per their needs. If we want to serve them, we have to offer them something that makes sense to them and not us. This was the concept behind PLATINUM PAPER. A lot of customers in Yamnanagar, used to use imported shuttering paper, I never really understood why until I went deep into the details.

“We took a challenge to develop a paper available in India which is a few kms away and not thousand kms away. I believe in one thing – our country is our own, we are one nation. We may be customers or suppliers or service providers, but we must remain together as one. To be honest, we all know China is not anyone’s friend. I urged and requested the customers to give us a chance to build a paper that is similar to the one they use, and gives them value. “The concept of MAKE IN INDIA remains alive, we manufacture paper close to their factories, we maintain stock so they don’t have to import with a lead time of 3 months and in the end they support a fellow Indian”, added Mr. Pasari.

What was so different behind the imported paper? Well no doubt technology and production is much higher in mills outside. However, if we don’t get a chance how we will be growing as a country? The imported paper has about 20% filler – which is basically anything other than fibre. Filler is important in Shuttering to bring the shine, smoothness, gloss, brightness and the core shadow of the ply. It is important that one gets the right combination, because filler reduces the strength and fibre gives strength to the paper. Producing a high filler paper is rather difficult due to paper machine run-ability, retention of fibre and the filler on the paper, achieving the gold rust shade and optimising the mix of other chemicals that get

So after many trials and R&D SKPMIL has developed this PLATINUM SHUTTERING PAPER which is now being used by many firms who used to use imported shuttering paper. Our Platinum paper has higher strength against imported paper. We got the feedback from the customers that the imported paper used to break on their machines, but the final ply was superior against regular shuttering ply. Hence for us it was important to develop a paper that doesn’t break on the machines, and it almost matches the imported paper qualities. I am happy we have been able to add value with our product and thankful to the customers for giving us this opportunity
