Kerala based Sawmill Ownwer’s and Plywood Manufacturers Association has announced the suspension of Plywood manufacturing operations from 1st September to 8th September in pursuance of the Onam festival. In a general meeting of the members, chaired by President M M Mujeeb Rehman on 20th Aug, it was decided that the temporary closure will be extended by three additional days after 5th Sept, the last day of the festival, in the light of giving the stakeholders enough time to get along with mandatory ISI compliance.
Kerala Based Plywood Prices Hiked Due to High Input Cost
SOPMA has also declared the notable hike in the Plywood products citing the recent increase in raw material costs, particularly non availability and price increase of resin, increased labour charges, and the compulsory implementation of ISI standards. As per their declaration, the non-availability of raw materials at competitive prices has further exacerbated the situation therefore they are compelled to adjust the prices of their plywood products.
In light of these circumstances, the prices of their Plywood 16mm and above, 12mm, 9mm, 6mm, film faced (34kg , 30kg and 25 kg) and Flush Doors have increased by Rs 5, Rs 4, Rs 3, Rs 2, Rs 5 & Rs 5 per sqft.
