Dr. Shakti Singh Chauhan Appoints as Director, IPIRTI

Dr. Shakti Singh Chauhan has assumed the charge of Director, IPIRTI on 1st October 2020. Dr Chauhan was scientist-G at the Institute of Wood Science and Technology, Bengaluru and has 27 years of experience in the field of wood science and technology. He has carried out extensive research in the field of wood polymer composites, wood quality assessment and wood processing. Dr. Chauhan has published more than 80 research papers in reputed International/ National journals and has presented more than 65 research papers in various International and National conferences/seminars. He has also co-authored four books and has 15 book chapters to his credit. Dr. Chauhan is internationally recognized for his work on wood quality and wood polymer composites which aims at using woody waste and reducing plastic consumption.

He acquired Master of Science in Physics and Master of Technology in Futures Studies and Planning from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, India. He obtained Ph.D. degree in Forestry (Wood Science) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand and was also a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University from 2008 to 2010.

Dr Chauhan is the recipient of the ICFRE Technology Innovation Award (2018) and Appreciation Award for the contribution in the field of Wood Technology by Rotary South and Karnataka Civil Defence Corp conferred by the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka in 2013.
