Laminate Cost Increases Due to Rise in Raw Material Prices

North India based Laminate Manufacturers have decided to increase the prices in all categories of Laminate following the advisory issued by ILMA a few days back by holding a meeting in Delhi on 15th February 2022. More than a dozen manufacturers and traders' group participated in the meeting which included laminate manufacturers from states like Delhi NCR, Yamunanagar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand etc.

They discussed many problems and unanimously decided to increase the prices as per the advisory. After the meeting, many companies also released new rate lists. Presiding over the meeting, Mr. Narendra Khemka, MD, Saffron Industries informed that due to increase in the cost of all the major raw materials, the members of ILMA had suggested to raise the price of the product very soon due to the increasing input cost pressure on the industry.

ILMA had issued an advisory on February 10, 2022 saying, "In addition to the substantial increase in the cost of fuel and transportation, the increase in the prices of raw materials like Kraft paper, Base paper, Melamine, Phenol etc. has led to unprecedented rise in the unit price of the product."  As per the analysis done by ILMA the impact of rising cost of production was assessed at Rs 40 per 1 mm, Rs 30 on 0.7 mm, Rs 20 on 0.8 mm and Rs 20 per mm on door skin and compact laminates. The members had to make appropriate decisions and appropriate action was advised. Accordingly, Leading Laminate Manufacturers in different categories 1mm, 0.8mm, Door Skin and 0.72mm Laminate increased the price at Rs.40, Rs.25, Rs.20, Rs.15 and GST and Mwud have increased Rs.45, Rs.35, Rs.30 and Rs.30 respectively releasing the increment list.
