PVC edge bands have become one of the fastest-growing products in India’s retail industry in the past 3-4 years. The segment has seen a growth in demand on account of the rise in modular furniture production; alongside an increasing supply of Make in India edge bands and the growing awareness among carpenters and consumers. Additionally, the availability of options and varieties in the market that would match laminate colours has further pushed its demand. Understanding edge banding tape
An edge band tape is a narrow strip of material that is used to create durable and aesthetically pleasing trim edges during the finishing stages of carpentry. It is used to cover the exposed sides of materials such as wood, ply, particle board, MDF, WPC, etc, thereby increasing the durability and enhancing the appearance of a solid or more valuable material.
Edge bands are strong and long-lasting. They protect the board from moisture and handle damages and chip-offs. Edge banding is not a new phenomenon in the woodworking industry. It has witnessed considerable changes with time due to the availability of new materials and process mechanisms supported by technological enhancement.
