Major Fire in Plywood Factories in Punjab, Report Big Losses

Punjab based plywood factories have reported major fire that broke out in two big plywood units located in Khanna and Kurali. A Fire broke out at a plywood factory, ‘Vidhata Industries Private Limited’, near Bija village in Khanna has reported losses of goods and machinery worth in crores. A short circuit is said to be the reason behind the fire.

Factory owner Mr. Amit Juneja said, the fire started around 5am. A labourer who had gone to switch on the boiler had discovered it and raised the alarm following which everyone rushed outside to safety. Though the actual loss is yet to be ascertained, he is expecting it may run into crores. He said that when he reached he saw massive fire in the factory. He added that even as there has been no loss of human life, but the material and machinery loss is big.

In another such incident a fire break out was reported in Kurali based Satguru Plywood, where company incurred heavy loss due to damage of goods, such as veneers. These two incidents within a month had shocked entire plywood sector in such a difficult time, where industry has been facing challenging time due to covid Pandemic. In last two months, many fire incidents had been reported in Yamunanagar also but fortunately the losses were not major.
