Price Increase in HPL & Particle Boards, Markets Cooperating

Due to steep rise in prices of raw materials such as Melamine, Phenol, Formaldehyde, Kraft Paper and Base Paper, the Decorative laminates manufacturing companies have announced to increase prices in entire thickness in HPL category. According to advisory of associations, the decorative laminate producers have announced an increased in the prices by Rs. 50 in 1 mm, Rs. 40 in 0.92 mm, Rs. 30 in 0.8 mm and Rs.20 to Rs 15 in liner laminates. As per market reports, various regions have accepted the price increase effective from 15th August. The organised segment brands too have informed about the hike to their respective channel partners, which is largely being implemented from 20 August onwards. Market reports suggest a Rs 10 variation in price increase depending on brands and companies.

In another development, All India Particle Board Manufacturers’ Association held a meeting at Ahmedabad on 23rd August 2021, where the manufacturers of Wood and Bagasse based Particle Boards attended, to discuss the current scenario of raw material prices and review the selling price of Particle boards. The meeting concluded to increase the prices of Wood and Bagasse Particle Board by Rs. 3.50 per Sq.Ft. (Plain & Pre-lam) with immediate effect.

The PB Manufacturers expressed that the Particle Board Industry is facing hardship and challenges after the 2nd wave of Covid-19 pandemic. Due to shortage, the raw material prices have increased unexpectedly. In order to overcome the raw material cost and selling price equilibrium and ensure survival insuch a difficult scenario, all members unanimously agreed upon passing on the input cost burden with immediate effect. The market sources too have confirmed about the intimation and agreeing to implement it from beginning of September.
